Sam Meikle
Sam Meikle is a highly experienced writer and creator with hundreds of hours of produced credits across a broad range of television dramas, comedies, animation, and web series. He’s worked extensively in development for many of Australia’s leading production houses, and written and interviewed for documentary works. His short films have screened at festivals around the world, and he’s been engaged to develop multiple feature projects. Sam holds a Masters in screenwriting from the AFTRS (2000), he’s a graduate of the NIDA Playwrights’ Studio (2000), a recipient of a 2009 AWG/Arts NSW Mentorship, and the 2014 Inscription Enderby Entertainment Scholarship.
He was a member of the Screen Australia Talent USA delegation in 2018, and he's been nominated for 3 AACTA Awards and 12 Australian Writers’ Guild Awards, winning 4. Most recently, Sam was a writer, Executive Producer and co-showrunner of Wakefield (ABC, BBC Studios, Showtime), co-creator, head writer, and Executive Producer of MaveriX (ABC, Netflix), and head writer and Co-Executive Producer of Last King of the Cross Season 2 (Paramount+). In 2023 he was selected for The Creators, the inaugural Screen Australia / Australian Writers’ Guild showrunning program.
