After premiering Sundance Film Festival, where it took out the Audience Award, Shayda has found a strong audience in Australia, this debut feature Noora Niasari is a confronting, but also touching family story based on personal experiences.

SHAYDA, a brave Iranian mother, finds refuge in an Australian women’s shelter with her six-year-old daughter. Over the Iranian New Year, they take solace in Nowruz rituals and new beginnings, but when her estranged husband re-enters their lives, Shayda’s path to freedom is jeopardised.
